Question

Windows 7 and DVD shrink

Jan 5, 2012 4:32AM PST

I am new to Windows 7. I have been using Windows XP for several years now. I have been using a program called "DVD shrink" to back up my DVDs. Now that I am using Windows 7, DVD Shrink will go through the process of copying the DVD to my hard drive, but will not do the process of writing the movie onto a blank DVD. I am hoping that somebody on here would have some idea how I would go about how I would go about copying it from the hard drive to a blank DVD. I hope you understand what I am talking about. Thank you in advance for any ideas you might have.

IMGBURN (free) makes and writes images. Works in Windows 7.

If your PC came with a DVD burner, it most likely came with a burning program also. Most burning programs (like Nero Express, that came with mine) can copy DVD's also.

now what?

I have installed the program, but I cannot figure out how to do what I want. DVD shrink put two files on my hard drive {audio_TS & video_TS} I cannot figure out how to get ImgBurn to take these two files and burn them onto a DVD so that I can watch the movie on any DVD player. I have tried going to the ImgBurn forum, but it will not let me post any questions. If you could explain to me how to do what I'm trying to do I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much

With IMGBurn, Highlight ONLY The Video_TS File

Navigate to the newly created "Video_TS" file, click once on it, then click on OK. (The "Audio_TS" file is normally empty anyway.) IMGBurn will then create the DVD as you would expect and it will play in your DVD player..

Hope this helps.

And then use IMGBURN for the final step?

As this app is getting rather old I will not try to correct it now.

You need to update your Nero program as the Nero wasn't installed or updated when you installed 7

From memory, DVD Shrink uses Nero to do the actual burning.
Nero needs to be installed before installing DVD Shrink. If you have installed both already but in the opposite order, uninstall DVD Shrink and then install DVD Shrink.
