Windows 7 64 bit operating system help

Sep 22, 2010 11:14PM PDT

I am running a 64-bit operating system windows 7 on a 2GB DDR2 RAM. My computer constantly lags and programs such as windows live messenger lags real bad. Is is due to the insufficient RAM or is there other reasons? My processor is intel core 2 duo and my hard disk both c and d are not in red. Thanks.

It could be

It could be a lack of RAM, it could also be malware, or even both.

Your post is far too light on details to be able to say for sure one way or the other.

Malware+Ram

As Jimmy said, it could be both.
A friends daughter was headed back to collage and her Dell laptop was really, really slow.
We ran Malwarebytes that found 201 infections and that did speed up the computer a lot once they were removed.
We doubled the ram from 2 to 4 gig. She said it ran better and faster than it did when it was new.
Try the "Malwarebytes" first as that is a free download and see if that helps.
Her computer had Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
