Windows 2000 USB mouse not responding

Aug 11, 2007 4:23AM PDT

HI,

I am using windows 2000. It has been working fine till recently but suddenly a weird problem has started happening from last 1-2 weeks. This is hampering my work a lot. Please help.

I use USB mouse. While working every few minutes my USB mouse stops responding for few seconds and whenever this happens i see a small icon for a new USB hardware detection on system tray at right bottom corner. This icon comes for 1-2 seconds and goes off and then mouse starts working. It looks as if USB mouse driver stops working for few seconds and suddenly its detected afresh by my computer and then it starts working.

And many times even this doesn't happen and my mouse totally stops responding. And then i am left with no other means but to remove and reinsert my mouse into USB.

Please help me this problem is driving me crazy. This has happened suddenly. I don't want to reinstall my whole OS again.

regards,
-nitin

All I can suggest is to use the USB connections on the rear of the machine.

(NT) I get this too. Could be USB, could be the mouse or drivers.
