Windows 2000 Sharred TAB

Apr 29, 2005 10:37PM PDT

Hi, I have a problem everywhere I go to get help on sharring the internet, the reference pictures and advice says to check the SHARRED TAB. I don't have such a tab did I forget to install something? I'm begining to think windows 2000 is the worst to solve. Hope someone knows what I did wrong. I'm running windows 2000 professional.

It would help if you revealed what you were trying to do.

For that, the sharing tab is not needed.

I don't have enough information about your internet connection, how the machines are connected to offer any specifics, but here's the usual articles about ICS that you can review.

Windows 2000 as Client: http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/w2kicsci.htm

Windows 2000 as Host: http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/w2kicshi.htm

Windows 98se as Client: http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/icsclnt.htm

Do notice that the tab is labeled "Shared Access" and not just "Sharred" as noted in your first post. This is why I asked. It can waste everyone's time if we don't go in the right direction.

If the Shared Access tab is missing, then you need to install ICS. How? I didn't find the exact page, but you can add or remove the ICS HOST in Windows 2000 in a simalar manner as you read at http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/icshost.htm

Without the ICS Host installed, it's just a client.

DSL Modem
May 3, 2005 11:33PM PDT

Hi!

Yes I'm using DSL Modem sympatico service (not dial-up) the information sites you sent are great. I'm trying my best to follow the step be step, but they refer a lot on dial-up and I'm not sure If this aplys to me. My Host is win 2000 nt professional and my client is win 98. I'm using a Belkin router with cables, D-Link ethernet cards. I don't know if I did something wrong I use to be able to connect to the win 98 computer but now I can't access it anymore. Really appreciate all your help hope I can figure this out, this is quite the experience.

Thanks Again Johnny...

With a Belkin Router, none of what I supplied is usable.

Ignore any prior replies since the tab we were trying to add is to share the internet via ICS. You have a router and therefore should not install the ICS Host.
