Question

Windows 2000 blue screen after installing xp as second OS

Aug 16, 2012 8:29PM PDT

Hi there,

I am currently using windows 2000 as my OS, but wanted to install XP for a second OS. After creating a new partition and installing xp, I restarted my computer. It then asked me to select which OS i wanted to use. I Selected Windows 2000. Starting up windows looked the same until the windows 2000 splash screen came up. After a few seconds
it showed a blue screen saying inaccessible_boot_device.
I restarted my computer and it was still coming up. I was able to get into XP without any problems.

I hope I get the answer to my problems soon,

Thank you in Advance

I ran and used W2K for many years and there are many articles about it's repair. I hope you didn't do anything like put it on a drive larger than 127GB since that causes an issue on this old OS. Your average W2K user only needs a reminder about that issue.

Thank you for your reply,

When i set up the drive for W2K i only gave it 20GB. I also gave xp 20GB as well.

Is this a SATA drive?

Did anyone move the drive to another channel?

Add another drive in the system?
