General update (KB3116908 and/or KB2504637

I also had the 'pleasure' of Microsoft updating my operating system and I: would like to warn others.
It took over 14 hours. It reset the speed of my processor to one-half of the normal speed and wiped out the turbo settings completely. I have not yet discovered what other malware - key loggers, recording software and the like ( Diag tools etc ) yet but I am working on it.
If anybody knows of a fix to stop Microsoft installing malicious ( and in this I include anything that resets my CPU speed and takes an extremely long time to install ) I would like to know as I do not wish to permit any organisation or individual to play about with my machine.
Because of this experience and when originally installing Windows 10, I will not be recommending Microsoft products to anybody in the future.

I just went to Linux Mint MATE. End of Microsoft problems. Updates only WHEN I want them, and ONLY the ones I want. Almost no virus worries.

Hi, you can try to boot in safe mode and perform system restore. Additionally, since the issue is caused due to Windows Updates, you are entitled for free support from Microsoft. Make sure you call them and report this issue. The number you can reach them on is 877_254_4698.

Hope this helps.

I just updated 2 Win10 Pro desktops w/no problems. Took 8..

In reply to: Windows 10 Update

..min. total. These two desktops are 5 and 6 years old, but I do have Windows on SSDs. I don't know why you're having problems & I'm not. I got the cumulative updates for both desktops along with some MS Office updates.
Good luck.
