Question

Windows 10 Start button and notification icons not working

Does Microsoft plan on issuing a fix for the start button ceasing to work? I can't access many programs that I don't have as desktop shortcuts. None of the notification icons in the systray activate, so I can't access the notify center or change my wireless signal. I've seen this answered on many other forums, but none of the fixes seem to work for me.

Tried Installing Classic Shell?

It should recreate a start button for you, and a start menu list, although it may look different than the current Win 10 version. Here's the link:

Hope this helps.

Answer
So far it's rare.

Unless you can find a cause I'm going with no. 10 as it stands doesn't seem to do this on its own. That is I did run into this once but it was a trojan so no fix was needed by Microsoft.

As all Windows before, you should have another account to use and see if the issue is on the other Windows account.

Happened to me once.

Several reboots didn't help, but a hard shutdown and a reboot fixed it.
