And fixed it by bringing the BIOS up to date. As there is no PC detail here I have to offer my last fix and pause to hear more.
For example another recent fix had us install the machine's motherboard drivers. The owner didn't know that the drivers Microsoft chooses are basic drivers. We get to finish the job.
I have a weather station connected to a simple PC that I always leave on, but I keep the monitor off. Before Windows 10, I could set it up to auto-reboot, auto-login, and start my required programs. But since Windows 10, when updates happen, it does not come back up properly. The PC light is on but when I turn the monitor on to check on it, there is no response and the monitor says no input signal. I can't ping it. I have to manually power it down and reboot. With the monitor on, it comes back up just fine. Monitors these days turn themselves off after a while so there isn't much I can do about that. I don't know when the PC is going to get rebooted. And of course we can't stop the updates.
Maybe it would be okay if the monitor was on all the time, but there's no way to do that. I don't want that anyway. This wasn't a problem before Windows 10. Any suggestions?
