Question

Windows 10 High memory usage

Jul 25, 2016 8:48PM PDT

So I just got a brand New ASUS G11CD Computer with an I5 Intel Processor and 8gb of Ram. I mostly do light graphic design, some podcasting, and PC gaming. It appears on the surface that I meet all the minimum system requirements for all the programs I run. But lately I have been getting "High Memory usage" alerts that if not adressed shut my computer down completely. I was planning on upgrading to 16gb anyways, but I don't feel that this is a hardware problem. I have done several disk cleanups, defrags, deleted unused programs, and been on the phone with ASUS, and a "Live" Microsoft help agent. None of whom could help resolve this issue. If anyone has experienced a similar " Memory Leak" and could help I would seriously appreciate it.

Run a pass of malwarebytes and then adwcleaner.
Toss anything they find.

If you have some trial version of av uninstall it and then use the maker's cleanup tool.
Verify that windows defender and the windows firewall are turned on.

Make your startup group skinny.

W10 and not using high memory. But it's very stock. The high memory usage alerts should be from an anitvirus app like Norton which is not stock. What did you install?
