Question

Windows 10 hard reset

Apr 2, 2016 3:23PM PDT

Hi there I am new here.I recently got a computer with windows 7 init. I downloaded free windows 10 upgrade to it. After a few days a noticed that I wasnt the administrator(the computer was a used one) on it. I reset the computer via the settings menu, clicked dont keep my files and settings and it was started. No problem what so ever with the reset. Then came the sky blue screen which said " Hi there, lets get a few basic things out of the way". My keyboard and mouse arent working at all. I tried different usb ports. I dont have PS/2 mouse or keyboard.

Help me out here guys much appreciated!!

Once your W10 activates you can clean install without having CD Keys. But you need to do what everyone does after a clean install. Drivers and maybe a few apps.

They don't work in your Windows. And nobody yet knows why.
- Do they work if you boot from the recovery drive?
- Do they work if you boot from a Linux disk or stick?

If no to both, it's hardware.
If yes to both, reinstall Windows.

Microsoft's Update Driver doesn't always work. You need to use the old fashioned go get the driver from the maker routine.

You may be very close to getting it working but need to use the old ways which is still the way to get and install drivers.

bring up the on screen keyboard to use

if needed to "type" in some commands to get the job done. Windows does have one in the accessibility area.

Answer
Reset of Windows 10
Apr 6, 2016 4:32AM PDT

HI Naweed 10 ,In such situation best and easy solution is to simply reset your PC to its defaults, removing all your programs, files and everything else that could be causing a problem. It's especially good if all other potential solutions have failed, and a decent last-ditch effort before you send your PC in for repair. There are two methods for restoring your PC: the first uses the built-in Windows 10 tool, which gives you a clean install; the second lets you take a system image, so you can restore your PC back to this point in time at any point in the future.
