Feb 23, 2016 6:20AM PST

I have a custom pc that I built two years ago. I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months a go but only recently discovered this problem. Sometimes when I open a file explorer window, after a little while, it will close, my background go black briefly, and the files on my desktop will get rearranged.. Whats going on??

I found this to happen long ago when there was an image File Explorer could not handle. I lucked into a trip to an ODM seminar at Microsoft and brought the file that caused File Explorer to exit with me,. I learned a valuable lesson about Microsoft that day. Here's what I was told about the issue.

"Don't do that."

So there it is. Microsoft doesn't consider this a bug. And finding out what video or image or other file it is, is not that fun either.

Windows 10 file explorer closes reforms

I resolved the problem by disabling both Microsoft Sign in and UsoSvc services.

The UsoSvc is a service which is used by organizations to install software without having the user login to do it. I did not need it so I disabled it.

Since then my file explorer is really fast and it never crashed again.
