Windows 10 compatibility with Office Home and Student 2010

Nov 21, 2015 9:04AM PST

I just did the Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7, and now cannot use Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010. Are they compatible?

Office 2007 and 2010 both work on my Win 10.

What kind of problem are you getting? When you upgrade, some software has to be reinstalled. I've run into that with some applications, but reinstalling has always worked for me. LibreOffice also works with 10.

Good luck.

So far yes.

You have have to head to control panel to see if uninstall has a repair option. If not, uninstall and reinstall.

But there is something that kills folk. A missing shortcut or association. Since you ran W7 for years, I bet you know those things. Try typing WINWORD in the box just to the right of the W10 start button. Press enter, what happens? Here my Word came up.

Word has stopped working

I get an error message Microsoft Word has stopped working when I try and open any previous documents saved from W7. When I attempt to re-load the software, it says the product key is invalid.

It works on my 2 Windows 10 systems. I just reinstalled it on both to be sure. No problems here.

Good luck.
