Explorer back then did such on files it could not render a preview. Lucky me I was going to Redmond that next week and could ask during an ODM seminar directly to Microsoft.
Anyhow I learned a lot about Microsoft and this issue way back then.
In short you'll have to use other than Windows File Explorer to delete. You may have to reboot then use a command line delete of the file Explorer can't deal with.
Not a Windows 10 bug at all. It's been there since 1998.
So first off before I explain my problem, Im not sure if this is in the correct section because ive never posted on of these. Second, I dont have lots of experience with windows itself. I understand most of it but I don't understand the technical parts of windows/windows 10. I will explain in detail to make things easier to understand.
So earlier today (6 hours ago) i was finishing up a track in Fl Studio 11. I exported it and it went smoothly as usual. The only thing is this time numerous .wav files exported on my desktop (the samples i used in the track). I started to delete them all at once cause they wernt needed, and thats when i realized my computer was running alot slower than usual. The prompt that showed the files being deleted was loading, but it didnt show the estimated time remaining. Eventually 'windows explorer' had crashed. After this, i went into task manager to see what was wrong. 'Com Surrogate' and 'Windows Explorer' were taking up all of my CPU (each using 50% of it). i restarted/ended the tasks but they kept starting back up. I restarted my computer and logged back in. Same thing. After that I started deleting the .wav files one by one. I narrowed it down to one file which cannot be deleted. I cant drag it into the recycling bin. I cant delete it with command prompt. Whenever i try to delete it by right clicking on it and clicking delete, right clicking on it crashes windows explorer and freezes my computer for around 30 seconds. I have tried all of these things in safe mode aswell and I still cant delete the file.
I looked up the problem to see if anyone else was having the same problem and only found one person who has a problem simular to mine. I did not find any help on that post so I thought I might as well write one myself. If there is anyone who can maybe help me out or give me any pointers that would be fantastic! Thanks!
