Explorer back then did such on files it could not render a preview. Lucky me I was going to Redmond that next week and could ask during an ODM seminar directly to Microsoft.

Anyhow I learned a lot about Microsoft and this issue way back then.

In short you'll have to use other than Windows File Explorer to delete. You may have to reboot then use a command line delete of the file Explorer can't deal with.


Not a Windows 10 bug at all. It's been there since 1998.
