Step 3 can be confusing, I think what it means is after running "%windir%", open up My Computer > C: > then delete the WINDOWS folder that did NOT open in step 2.
After having a very bad crash it took some time to get back up and running and I found I could not "restore".
I reinstalled XP with my old CD but, found I now have two sets of windows. One is labeled "windows.0 and the one I am using is labeled just "windows". When I boot up I must choose which "windows".
I know it is wise to just leave it alone but, is it possible to remove the older version without harm?
Oh, I think what happened to start with is I came across a site on the web that had a popup stating I was not virus protected. I am virus proctected, by a new McAfee installation, and I imediately left the site but, apparently not quick enough.
Thanks for any help.
