Question

Window XP not opening any program

Jan 31, 2014 11:16PM PST

Hi!
Recently I am facing some problem with Window XP Professional(Sp2), 2 days ago i downloaded some windows update files on my PC on which i was working & it worked fine that day. On Next Day When I turned on my PC i noticed that it is not opening any software even IE. So I installed XP Sp3 on my PC and after installing I was facing the Same Problem, no software opens and after accessing the IE through Address Bar it does not download anything and the browser was also very slow. So I again Installed Window XP Professional sp2 on Drive C and format it over 2 times but facing the same problem again & again.
So What I Should do ?
Is there any problem with hardware or there is some problem with software?
Please give your answer in detail.
Thanks in Advance

Im using Dell Pc.
CPU : Pentium 4
RAM: 512Mb
HDD: 80 Gb
Intel motherboard

There's a lot of malware that for some reason breaks the .EXE and other associations. And you know there is the end of XP looming here. Besides MALWARE is really taking XP to the end of its life faster than Microsoft as I read

It appears that only those XP users that backup will survive along with those that can be Windows Gurus.

So try the .EXE association fix at Doug Knox's site. You're a seasoned XP user so here's the link and a pause.

Hi,

Check your "C" Drive and don't keep data on desktop. if C drive is ok. than definitely your computer infected by harmful virus. Scan your system with pro antivirus or format your windows.

Definitely your problem will resolve.

He wrote he already formatted it twice. So it's unlikely that doing that a third time will help, don't you think? Do you always give such inappropiate support?

How do you mean "no software opens"? I read you ran IE, so that surely opened (although indeed it might be slow on such an old PC).
