There's a lot of malware that for some reason breaks the .EXE and other associations. And you know there is the end of XP looming here. Besides MALWARE is really taking XP to the end of its life faster than Microsoft as I read

It appears that only those XP users that backup will survive along with those that can be Windows Gurus.
So try the .EXE association fix at Doug Knox's site. You're a seasoned XP user so here's the link and a pause.

Hi!
Recently I am facing some problem with Window XP Professional(Sp2), 2 days ago i downloaded some windows update files on my PC on which i was working & it worked fine that day. On Next Day When I turned on my PC i noticed that it is not opening any software even IE. So I installed XP Sp3 on my PC and after installing I was facing the Same Problem, no software opens and after accessing the IE through Address Bar it does not download anything and the browser was also very slow. So I again Installed Window XP Professional sp2 on Drive C and format it over 2 times but facing the same problem again & again.
So What I Should do ?
Is there any problem with hardware or there is some problem with software?
Please give your answer in detail.
Thanks in Advance
