General discussion

window xp freezes up

Jun 15, 2007 2:52AM PDT

4 year old dell dimension 2400
windows xp 2002 sp2
pentium 4 cpu 66ghz
266ghz.256mb ram
40 ghd space used 9.6
Did msconfig for start up menu seemed to help
My problem is when I am booting up when it gets to the start up
screen for windows xp it sits there for 15 minutes than goes black for 2 minutes then gives me the log in page. I thought it might be a
heat issue but I had it turned off all day and unplugged from outlet
but still the same thing. Any Suggestions or Remedies.
Thank you,
Mtruitt

Ok, it's not the heat.

Sorry but I took the liberty to clean up the extra posts.

"when I am booting up when it gets to the start up screen for windows xp it sits there for 15 minutes than goes black for 2 minutes then gives me the log in page."

Let's scan for the usual "pests." Here's a page I use and besides cookies, what does it find?

I am at the site you posted now.
I'll try that and let you know and
