window washer free download

Can anyone rate the ease of use and reliability of the window washer utility? Im toying with the idea of removing index.dat files without using dos which I don't understand.I know I can live with the dat files but it bugs me that every time I clean up my pc by scan and defrag it pops up to say NO! YOU CAN'T DELETE DAT FILES.Well over 5000 files showing in there and it can only help to empty them.

I can't comment on window washer but if you look at this util I suspect it will do what you want.

http://www.toniarts.com/ecleane.htm

It's small.
It's free.
It's easy to use.
It will clean index files (without have to go to DOS)
I use w98 and have not seen an issue with the product.

The index.dat file is a collection of cookies. It can be deleted by restarting into DOS mode, deleting C:\Windows\Cookies\Index.dat and then restarting. Windows will crate a new index file each time you do this.

Can't speak to Window Washer, but you can search for an app called SPIDER (freeware) which automates this and related cookie deletion tasks.
