I find a few machines do that if something USB is plugged in. I know that folk often don't know that details like that matter so give it a try but without anything plugged in.

I need some help. I am not extremely techy, but know my way around computers enough that I would like to try to avoid paying someone to fix this problem. Please let me know if you need more information.
I have an acer 6930 laptop that came with Windows Vista. Last night I was cleaning the laptop with compressed air and wipes. I shut the laptop down, but when I was going over the key board with the wipes I accidentally hit a button that turned acer media on. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off, so I hit the power button and shut it down manually. As it was shutting down a screen came up with the windows logo saying Windows was hibernating. When I went to power up again all I got was a black screen with a flashing cursor, windows would not start and it is non responsive to commands. At one point my husband was able to get a re boot menu by hitting F2, but here was no options for starting Window in safe mode or otherwise. I had downloaded a couple of movies the night before this, and a firefox update that night. Could it be a virus?
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
