Question

Window of my Dell Laptop crashed, D drive not opened

Jul 25, 2017 10:47AM PDT

Window of Dell Laptop crashed, somehow data of C drive got lost during maintenance. Since laptop was designed to operate into two different drivers ie C and D, data of D drive could not be opened as yet. Important document might get saved if I succeed to recover files from D driver. Kindly assist me in recovering data from D drive

Answer
For this scenario I remove the laptop drive.

Then place the drive into some USB case and run RECUVA (what is and how to use is on the web) to see if I can save files. After files are saved I wipe the drive and restore from backup or use factory restore media (or a W10 USB install stick.)

Answer
Do you have DVD drive? USB port?

You can recover your files using Linux Mint 17.3 bootable (burn image) to a DVD, boot to it, and use it's file manager to find and save those files to a backup external drive or flashdrive.
