window internet explorer

Apr 4, 2015 3:52AM PDT

hi everyone, I have a windows 7 64 bit system which suddenly will not let me into internet explorer. It says that it stopped working and that it was caused by a problem to a programme I then went into system restore but this did not work due to error 0xc0000022. To fix this problem I need to download a special tool but cannot because of the fact that I cannot use internet explorer. Can anyone please help me with this problem. I did go into safe mode and waited 2hrs+ while it checked all my files and found nothing wrong.many thanks. ken manton.

,hi r. profit. thanks for your reply, brought up internet explorer from the bottom but it shows a page saying,an application error occurred on the server, the current custom error settings for this application prevent the details being viewed remotely. it could however be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. lost me I am afraid. I went ahead and reset internet explorer as you advised but it is still the same. can you help any further. thanks. ken.

Re: IE

You're not really clear.

- First you say that Internet Explorer stops working when you run it; do you see your home page or does it give this error before showing it? And what is your home page?
- System restore gave an error. And you believe special tool can solve it? I'm inclined to say: forget that nonsense. What tool was it?
- Safe mode doesn't check anything on its own. What program did you run in Safe Mode that took 2 hours?
- What do you mean with "from the bottom"?
- When does it give that server error?
- You reset IE. That's great. But now it's still the same, you say. What exactly is still the same: the "not working" from your first post or the server error from your second post. That are different things.

Server errors, as the term says, are problems on the server on the website, not on your PC. Those can only be solved by their webmaster. Other pages on other sites should work if IE runs.

Until the problem with IE is solved, why not install Chrome or Firefox? They are free. Download the installer on another PC to a USB-stick in run from there on this PC.

Hi Kees, I will try and answer your questions. I can get onto my home page which is MSN. I then get a message that it cannot connect. I put the error number into google for s restore and it highlighted to go into windows downloads for a tool to fix it. I tried to reset I e by pressing the e button at the bottom of the screen. when it came up it showed a error page with some writeing that I did not understand. I can find my way around ok but am 74yrs old and not that technical minded that's why if I have a problem I use s restore to get out of trouble.nothing has changed I am getting the same all the time I try to onto the internet, it comes up on my home page but stops and say cannot connect to ie .Not sure if I know how to do the stick ????. hope this makes it more clear. thanks.

I doubt if ie says it cannot connect to ie. That doesn't make much sense.

Anyway, it seems best if you find local help. Either the proverbial 'computersmart nephew', or a professional repair shop.

Best of luck.

Placing links to your own personal website is against forum policies and considered SPAM.

In regards to your problem with Internet Explorer and the error you listed, please try the previous posters in this thread. The "Reset Internet Explorer" options is one I would try first.. The procedures for resetting IE are fairly easy. Open the Control Panel, then "Internet Options", then the "Advanced" tab, then select the "reset" button, apply, then OK.

Hope this helps.
