If the folder has videos, images that Explorer can't decode, errors like this to outright crashing has been seen (since before 2000.)
Workaround is to move files out of that folder and then find what files Explorer has an issue with.

PS. Remember this is a very very old issue. Microsoft's response to this has been muted to "don't do that."
Having a problem opening Windows Explorer. Keeps getting a message - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
I have tried Clean Boot, uninstalling any new programs/updates that have been installed recently, deleting the Microsoft Visual C++ programs that were on my laptop and reinstalling them. Also tried inserting the Microsoft disc and selecting repair but no joy. Can anyone suggest anything else I could try. Really appreciate any help, thanks.
