Question

Window 8.1 user account "hijacked"; How to return to ...

Feb 9, 2015 6:24PM PST

I bought a new Samsung laptop a few days ago. I signed in W8.1 with the generic name "user" without pw and that was perfect for me.

This morning, I downloaded some MS softwares and then my computer user account was hijacked: my MS email account now becomes my user account and I had to use the email pw (or a PIN) each time I sign in W8.1. How can I go back to the previous sign-in format (to avoid snooping by MS)? (I did lots of searching, but can't find a way).

1. Would restoring the system to a time before the MS software downloads solve the problem? (But a simpler way is preferred.)

2. I set up a local user account (without pw) and made it the administrator, hoping that W8.1 would start using this account, but it kept using the MS email account as sign-in account. I found out later than I could choose between the users while starting W8.1 (by moving up the logged screen when starting W8.1), but I found out the local user doesn't have the softwares and files of the other account. Thus setting up a local account doesn't help unless the local account has full access to everything of the other account.

3. The administrator can delete the MS account and deleting it may solve the problem. I haven't tried this fearing that it may lead to bigger issues.

The Microsoft account is

needed to download software from the MS Store. It also uses it for access to One drive. Windows 8.1 will use whichever account you us to login but like I said you you attempt to login to store you will need the MS account.

Don't want to download more things.

1. Would system restore get rid of the MS user account?

2. Would deleting the MS user account by the administrator do?

information is stored at Microsoft. So when you set it up at login it goes to MS and verifies your password at Microsoft. If you are able to delete all it would do remove the ability to sign on with that account but the account would still exist at Microsoft. If you do a restore to factory you have to create the account to access Windows on your machine again. But like I said the account still exists at MS.

is if I view my email from different devices. So sometimes Yahoo will ask if 1. I want a text 2. A phone call or 3. Email with a code to enter. If I enter the correct code it allows me into Yahoo mail.
