Windos Vista Freezing

Dec 8, 2010 1:19AM PST

Please help with my PC before I throw it out of the "window".
There a number of problems but the main ones are: 1)Applications "Not responding" and also with whiteouts. 2) Cursor keeps freezing or locking up. 3) PC locks up periodically for 10 minutes or more.
I have an Esystems Model Ei314 PC with Pentium 4. The original OS was XP but PC came with a free CD upgrade(?) to MS Vista Home Premium (now SP2 and automatically updated). MS tells me to consult seller and or manufacturer but after warranty seller and manufacturer deny any help. Currently average disk space available is 22GB; Disk cleaned and Defragged every 2 weeks (but makes no difference); Cache and Registry cleaner (CCleaner)runs monthly (but makes no difference); Spamfighter PC Clean run weekly; Running antivirus MS Security Essentials, Adaware and Spyware Blaster. Windows Defender scans weekly. All a/v and spyware apps report no problems. Have stopped a/v and spyware programs individually but makes no difference. Vista has always been problematic but it is becoming a real pain. I Would appreciate your help.

If you are utilizing MS Security Essentials you might want to turn-off Windows Defender. I read that somewhere when I installed Security Essentials on my laptop.

I have the exact same problem. Even unistalled and reinstalled Mircosoft word, excel, etc. Dell was unable to help me.

Would love to find a solution. It's been 2 years.
