Windoex Encryption (EFS) Urgent

by paulchwd / August 30, 2008 11:09 AM PDT

I screwed up and forgot to unencrypted a few files that I backed up before formatting. They are encrypted with EFS (the windows encryption) is there any way to decrypt them / get the data back ?

Nope, not unless you believe the tinfoil hat rumors of there being some secret NSA backdoor in Windows.

Basically, you're looking at using a brute force password cracker, or just accepting that the files are gone and giving up.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
