Question

Windoes Mail Live not recognizing Outlook files

Apr 1, 2016 5:59PM PDT

Hi. I successfully upgraded all the way to Windows 7 from XP. Unfortunately, however, I can't seem to get Windows Mail Live to import my stored Outlook Express message files. I have them stored on a jump drive and I've tried saving them in a variety of places on my computer but it just won't recognize them. Any hints of how to get them into Windows Mail Live?

Answer
I think that's true.

I don't use WML or WLM but do stick to Outlook (the big one) and when I don't have a license extra I nod to Thunderbird. There are thousands of web pages to get OLEXP files into Thunderbird so I'll pause here.

I wonder why folk would write it can't be used.

express vs the regular one

I think the controversy is outlook express vs. regular outlook.

anyway, anyone know of a way to get outlook express .dbx files into live mail

There are priors on that question.

And we have spammers that will give you their answer (I don't agree with them.)

For me I'm partial to getting them into Thunderbird first as it's been done (see the web?) and then I have a lot more export options. Then off to WLM's support pages to see what formats it supports to imports and I'm done.

As I don't do this often I'm supplying the path and research I did on this last year.

the path!

Thanks but I didn't see the path ....

so - you are saying, install thunderbird to use as an interim situation and as a vehicle to eventually get the emails into live mail?

(NT) That's the short version. So yes.

Putlook Express was during XP and was ramed to Windows Mail in Vista and went away in Window 7. Windows Mail becamse popular after that.
