win98 & xp pro on same computer

every time i boot my system up,i the message windows xp or win 98, and i have to highlight one of them to get into an os, if i'm not fast enough it automatically goes to win98 then locks up on me. how can i get rid of the win98, can't find it in the add/remove programs on xp, doesn't show up in windows explorer. stumped, any help please

I wanna know too. I had a scratched WIN 2000 that didnt work so I just bought an XP. Both come up and I have to select which one I want to boot to. (it will automaticly go to Xp after a while but still)

You just need to change your boot.ini file. Go into Windows XP-->Start-->Search-->Type in Boot.ini. Right click on Boot.ini, and select Open With, ( you want to open it up with MS Notepad ). In Boot.ini, under Operating Systems you should see two, one for Windows XP and one for Windows 98, delete the Windows 98 entry. I hope that this helps.
