Let your IT fix this. While it could be as simple as the headphone jack is 0.01mm too small to hold the microswitch, it's still the IT's job to fix it.

I have an HP EliteBook 8440 running Windows 7 Enterprise. Just today, it started with this audio thing.
This is my work laptop, and it sits in a dock. I have headphones plugged in so I don't disturb my coworkers. Occasionally, it will stop playing audio through the head phones and play it through the laptop speakers. This only lasts for a split second, then it is fine again for a bit. Could be 30 seconds, could be several minutes. My headphone connection is solid, and I am not moving around much. Seems to be worse when I am doing a lot of clicking & processing
