Win7 in a domain

Sep 15, 2010 7:38PM PDT

Hi
Im running one test machine (mine) with win7 on my domain.

The password policy requires password renewed after x days.
In XP you get a window warning you x days are left do you want ot renew now?

in win 7 all i get is a little symbol of two keys in my task bar. If i hoover over the symbol it says "Consider changing your password". If i left or right click the symbol it just dissapears.

How do i get back a proper warning that "your password is about to expire in x days"

thanks if you know.

Thanks for trying Kees.

Those two are the same discussions and no they dont work.
I have googled the problem a fair bit with no solution.

It is pretty important my users have a warning as many of them travel and rely on OWA or VPN for access. And VPN isnt happy with an expired account.

They will be on XP pro for a while yet, but these things are all part of the migration prep.

Thanks

Time to call Microsoft tech support. I assume your company - if it's big enough to have OWA and VPN and a migration project - has the kind of license and contract with Microsoft that comes with support.

Can you tell the result. It could be useful for others.
