As long as Windows is installed on the computer, the Windows serial number should be retrievable by using the Magical Jellybean from the link below:
But even if you extract the current product key from the installed Windows operating system, you'll still need a complete Windows 2000 CD to reinstall it on the computer.. A boot disc won't do it unless you've go the operating system installation disc.

Hi. I have win2k on my old laptop. I would like to re-install it but don't have the disk for it. I know where I can get a boot disk from. I was wondering if anyone knew if I can find the serial number somewhere on my laptop so I can use it again. Thanks for any help
