win2k problem

by johnywent / November 4, 2004 10:26 PM PST

Okay this is a long shot because there could be a million different things that may cause this but I recently tried to install windows 2000 service pack 4 and in the middle fo the installtion my computer froze. I did a hard reset and now I can't get back into windows!! I get to the windows 2000 log in screen and it just freezes! I can't even get into safe mode! Does anyone have any suggestions / ideas?? I built this computer earlier this year. It has run great ever since and this is the first time i have had a problem. Thank you in advance for your help!

Go back to the safe mode menu, there should be also a "restore" mode. Press F8 to get into this menu in order to troubleshoot, then select restore, if nothing else works. If no go, then reinstall W2K over the old, w/o format, etc and do this when all else fails or you decide to start anew provided your data isn't that important to save. There maybe a repair mode but can't remember, if so try that before any install.

good luck -----Willy Happy

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
