Question

Win10 logging without password does not work.

Mar 26, 2018 12:47PM PDT

I'm the only pc user with Win10_64. I don't need any password every time, I want to cancel it completely. When you turn on a computer, restart, or log on. I also did this during the installation, according to the instructions availeble on the net. However, a few days ago, it has not only changed, but I even see 2 accounts, at the bottom left of the sign-in screen. With the same name, but with different passwords. One password works and the other user cannot log in at all, it reports a bad password. There are still only one user in the accounts and I'm an administrator at that. Can anything be done? I mean, to cancel all this mess, and after turning on the pc run up to without any password? I hope that this will not only solve reinstallation and return to Win7.
thanks for any advice
Peter

That doesn't work for a Microsoft account, but a local account can be without password. Just change it to notthing and it won't be asked, although you still have to click on "login".

And http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-automatically-login-in-windows-10/ tells how to use netplwiz to set Windows to have a fully automatic login, without even clicking. I've seen it working in Windows 7, and it seems to be the same.

You can't have to accounts with the same name, since you can't have 2 subfolders with the same name in the c:\users folder. Seems like something is corrupted. That's why we recommend having 2 admin accounts. In case of corruption of the one you use regularly, you can use the other to fix it or delete it. Better do it now! And when the old one is deleted, and you only have the new one left, immediately make a new spare one.

Well I have a new Service Book 2

When i first setup my PC by default it used Windows Hello which logs into my MS account. I had to create a facial profile (the camera taking a picture). I also had to enter a pin number in case there was an issue with facial recognition. So when i boot the PC I see the camera light come on and the next thing it great me with is a Hello with name associated with my MS account. If I'm not in front of the pc when it takes picture it asks for pin number.

Given the complaints about that login

I continue to make a spare local login the old fashioned way to give me the chance to fix things when others ignore that advice and have to factory reset the PC.
