win xp HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT PROGRAMS ARE RUNNUNG

I HAVE A SONY VAIO AND FOUR PEOPLE CAN LOG ON(AT DIFFERENT TIMES). I CAN ACCESS ALL ACCOUNTS. SOMETIMES IT SHOWS ONE OR TWO PROGRAMS RUNNING FOR EACH USER, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE. HOW DO YOU PULL UP WHAT IS CURRENTLY RUNNING ON YOUR SYSTEM? THANKS.
