Because we don't want to have any down time due to out of memory conditions, the desktops were set to 1 gigabyte of paging space and the servers were set to 4 gigabytes of paging space.
Many years ago we couldn't do that because drives were quite small, but today, we just set it to what may seem to some as quite large, but do so because a needless out of memory condition and a call to "Tech" costs more than just letting it go large.
YMMV

Is there a rule of thumb for calculating Virtual Memory size? Do you know of some other references to Win NT 4.0 workstation tweaks, etc. Our office expects to be using these systems for about another year or so. Thank you.
