Recently, I have started to experience an interesting problem. When I open windows explorer it takes forever to find my drives, sometimes stopping an application if I have one running. I have also noticed the same thing occurs when I want to attach a file to an email and the box takes forever to find the drives--little flashlight searching, stopping, searching, stopping---so I can indicate what file I want attached. Nothing has been changed on the machine--except new power supply.
Win XPPro with all security updates, 2 internal HD's, 1 CD & 1 DVD drive, 1 3 1/2 inch drive. 2 GB Ram and a 2.4 GB processor (Intel). Did I forget anything else?
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on (ram going bad, etc.)? I have used CNets "Speed Up your XP" lessons including running services.msc and all the cleaning apps but still no joy.
Thanks for any advice
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
