win 98 to win xp

I have a full version of win xp. I am trying to load it on HP4440. How do I get the computer to boot from the dos prompt?

set bios to boot from cd

but relize you will lose all info from 98

First, Xp is not installed from a dos prompt. In the bois set the boot order so it boots from CD, then restart and Follow prompts. XP will format and install itself. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. I have tried to adjust the order in the bios and it will not boot from cd. I have attempted to copy the files to floppy and get an error saying it does not match the system files remove and hit any key to continue.

I am very frustrated with this. Is there another way?
