Win'98 Doesn't Remember Folder Settings

Feb 23, 2004 11:10AM PST

While in Windows Explorer, I prefer to have my files shown in the View/Detail setting, while in Control Panel I want the option set for Icons. In 'My Music' I want the files shown in the Detail View while in several others I choose to have them shown in the Icons View.

Under Tools/Folder Options, I?ve checked the box noting to ?Remember each folder?s view setting?, but it does NOT work. If I go to Control Panel after setting another folder once AGAIN to View/Details, then Control Panel shows up in the View/Details mode.

Is there some other setting I need to make to assure that each folder stays the way I want it to?

Sometime ago, someone sent me a way to fix the Registry to correct this issue on my XP computer, but the same solution won't work on my '98 because the keys don't seem to be the same.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
