Question

Win 8 to Win 8.1 question

Oct 9, 2014 11:55PM PDT

I'm trying to update my Acer Aspire V5-122P from the pre-installed Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and so far it keeps failing with the error code 0xc0000005. I'm doing a refresh install to see if that will help. If I buy a full install version of Windows 8.1 will I be able to do a clean install or is the Windows 8 key in the bios and going to cause me problems?

First of all, can you explain why your post is an exact copy of this post from October last year, by somebody called winuser: http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/33301-win-8-win-8-1-question.html ?

And while we're discussing posting old questions from somebody else, can you compare your question http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6616_102-627650/how-can-i-convert-an-xml-feed-into-html/?messageId=5617498#message5617498 with this one from dharrision: http://www.webproworld.com/webmaster-forum/threads/136461-How-can-I-convert-an-XML-feed-into-HTML#post695570 and explain that also?

You don't expect to be taken seriously here any more, do you? Better stop posting.

Checking MS this error happens with Windows 7 installs
Oct 14, 2014 12:25AM PDT

but I imagine the same error is generated with Win 8.

1. Was the machine doesn't meet the requirements for 8.1 which is VERY highly unlikely.
2. Faulty Ram MEMtest86+ is a applications that tests ram
3. Bad Sectors or Corupt Hard Drive. Run this command at the DOS prompt chkdsk C: /f

Another issue it could be a virus/malware not allowing you to upgrade
