Resolved Question

Win 8 System Restore Point

Apr 3, 2013 2:12AM PDT

Is it true that windows 7 and 8 will automatically create a restore point after 7 days if none were created manually?

I know from experience that previous versions of windows will create a restore point after 24 hrs.

Yes.

It's in the first paragraph of http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/create-a-restore-point

HOWEVER it's known that some security suites that employ "product protection" may break this and other features.

My beef with that is that it's created too many problems when folk want to use System Restore. Since the restore fails and the security suite does not pop up and reveal that it blocked the restore the folk come away thinking the worst.

So far I know Norton and Kapersky do this.

-> On top of that, Symantec blocks your internet when it expires in what I'm calling them out as a "thug." Pay up or we keep you off the internet for your own safety.
