The upcoming Community newsletter has a member asking the same question. Oh well.

Have you tried this yourself, does it work? If it works and you can vouch for it, I'll make it a sticky as I know people forget their passwords all the time.

I'll say it works. You do need the items they call for, created proper recovery disc, refer to link.

On Win 8, however, I have found not that many people willing to go Win 8 as an upgrade. Rather they got Win 8 with the new PC. I still rely on the ole NTpassword resetter and have a flash drive with it. The other half of this is trying to save data which can be a problem if the users tried this or that before I got involved. Don't blame me if you really dug yourself in at least you have a booting PC again. I know Win 8, but its a learning curve for sure. I have to do this on my own as i have to support it but I "love" Win 7. For me, Win 8 isn't offering anything I can say, gee whiz, I need this. ------Willy Happy

Very helpful.I go through this link and now I am able to recover the windows 8 software.
