Question

win 7 update kills Corel Video Studio X6 Pro

Mar 25, 2016 9:54AM PDT

My X6 Pro stopped working recently and Corel tells me it is caused by a recent Microsoft update to Windows 7. They say I should buy X9 or upgrade Win 7 to 8 or 10. Seems they don't care enough to fix X6 !
Is anyone else having this problem?

Yeah, that video went too fast for me also,

it didn't show too well on my computer either. Sounds like there were fixes for the X7-X9 but not the X6...too bad. How about try to delete the latest update yourself?

Try this; Go to CONTROL PANEL->SYSTEM & SECURITY->ACTION CENTER->WINDOWS UPDATE->VIEW UPDATE HISTORY, there you can check to see the most recent update and see if it can be delete. Good luck.

Answer
Update or upgrade to win7?

If it's on update, I think Corel should make good on that. But if it's upgrade, we can't expect them to support the application forever.

update only

I have not upgraded from my Win 7. It was just one of those automatic updates that Microsoft send out. Corel did not tell me which one. The inference from Corel was that it may affect other video editing software as well.
