Question

Win 7 on a partition and Win8 on another?

Oct 31, 2013 7:58AM PDT

I have both windows 7 and windows 8 and I would like to have each operating system on a different partition (or even on a separate hard drive if it isn't possible). My windows 7 is 32 bit and I have both 32 and 64 bit of win8. The Windows 8 is a OEM system builder version. Is it possible to have both a 32 bit and a 64 bit on the same drive (partitioned of course) If not, would installing it on a separate hard drive work? My final question is: if I can get win 8 and Win 7 on my computer, could I still use some of the Win 7 software with windows 8 or would I have to download another version? If it helps I am using a Fujitsu lifebook T730, corsair ssd as primary drive, and a HHD in my disk drive bay.

Answer
That's supported.

Just leave unpartitioned space and tell 8 to install there. DO NOT PARTITION AHEAD OF TIME. Let the Windows installer do that.

And that will work for Win 8 64 bit?

But I'm unsure of your new question. Is there some reason you don't expect this to work?

Yes, it works for 32 and/or 64 bit

It doesn't matter about 32 vs 64 bit, it will work regardless.
