Win 7 Login issue

Trying to help my sister with a problem.

she is unable to login to win 7. when the login screen comes on she clicks on the user account but the password prompt never comes. the mouse icon spins real quick and nothing happens. I tried to have her do safe mode and safe mode with command prompt and it always bring her back to the login screen and she cant login. she has 2 users accounts and neither one works

how do i fix that?

Answer
Use F8 key to enter Safe Mode during boot process

Enter the Admin account then. Check the User Accounts for her profile, see what you can discover about it. Is it set for an administrator? Set instead for a Limited Account. Also set to enter without need of a password. Reboot see if you can get into the account. If not, then will need to create a new account for her.

While still in Admin account, update and run Antivirus, then also install MalwareBytes and run it to clean up the computer of malware.

tried safe mode

I tried safe mode. It still wants you to log in but same issue occurs. Can't enter password at login screen. It never prompts for password.

Answer
My PC had the same issue.

It was caused by one of the windows updates applied today. I had to remote into the PC from another computer and remove the updates from today. Now I can login locally.
