Question

Win 7 Compatibility

Aug 2, 2014 2:25PM PDT

Can MS Office XP Pro be compatible with Win 7 Home Premium? My refurbished IBM ThinkPad came with the Prod. Suite of Apache OpenOffice 4, but I want to replace the Mozilla T-Bird 24.5 with Outlook XP as my default client.

If that can be done, how can I move all saved email from T-Bird to Outlook?

It's not supported and not guaranteed, but it just might work. If not, you can buy a more current version of MS Outlook, if you prefer that.

If you google MIGRATE THUNDERBIRD TO OUTLOOK you'll discover that by far the easiest way to do so is to buy a third party program and use that.

It might work, but as Kees noted, Office XP isn't supported any longer so you can bet all the ne'er do wells of the world were watching all the patches for Outlook that have come out since and have been testing whether the fixed vulnerability works on unpatched versions of Outlook. There might also be a few issues with the way Office XP programs run on Windows 7 that will never be fixed. Some features may not work or may not work correctly. The long and short of it is that it would be extremely unwise to attempt using Outlook XP these days.
