Win 2K Professional shutdown

by CSChen / April 5, 2005 2:17 AM PDT

Hi, can someone pls help. Whenever I shutdown Win 2K Prof, I see a error message for a split second before it gets overwritten by the "saving your settings" dialogue box and then it shuts down normally.

Though it does not disrupt my PC usage that much as it only comes during shutdown, nevertheless I am bothered as I see trouble looming ahead.

The thing is: how can I slow down the shutdown process to see the error message, so that I can take steps to rectify whatever's on the error message?

Win 2K Pro shutdown error message
by CSChen / April 8, 2005 5:39 PM PDT

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes, I see some red circles with a cross in the center in EV. There are 2 errors. Are they the ones causing the problem? One says:

"Unable to open Server Service. Server Performance data will not be reurned. Error code returned in data DWORD 0" Another has this line:

"IPSEC PolicyAgent Service couldn't be started. Oakley failed to start"

Hi Bob

No, I did not try googling it.

I went into MS knowledge base to trying to retrieve some articles on the error messages. Had found some but was confused by it all.

The solution is to reinstall TP/CP on the PC. Same as Google. Thanks
