Win 2000 Boot Disk

Nov 30, 2003 11:11AM PST

Trying to create a system restore disk for the Restore IT! program under Win 2000. To do this you need a single bootable floppy. ANyone know how to do this under Win 2000, I can only find how to make a set of boot floppies under 2000 and this approach doesnt work for RestoreIT! Thanks.

Re:Win 2000 Boot Disk. Windows 2000 doesn't fit on a floppy.

So it's up to RestoreIT to tell you what boot diskette you may need to use their software. I tried to find their support site, but it was down.

Use their manual to find out how to do this in light of the lack of a web site.

Unfortunately the manual and the web site do not tell you how to make a single, Win 2000 bootable disk, only how to make the recovery disk from the bootable disk Sad . Neither Soltek or RestoreIT! is replying to my emails either. If it was Win ME I'd just create one using the format option and checking system files, unfortunately under 2000 you cant do this it seems. Thanks for looking tho Bob Happy .

Re:Re:Win 2000 Boot Disk vs. a bootable disk are two different things.

Since the software maker's web site was down at the time I wrote my reply, I could only respond with the issue that you can't put Windows 2000 on diskette.

Your response then noted a "bootable disk" and not a Windows 2000 bootable disk. These are different.

Any number of DOS boot disks are created daily with the help of http://www.bootdisk.com MANY utilities will use such a disk.
