I know BOL has been talking about an Australian WiMAX ISP, no one in Australia has actually ever heard of them they are tiny at best. Well the Australian Government had $958 million contract to build a WiMAX network that would cover 90% of homes that are currently under-served with broadband. OPEL the group that was building the network could only get 72% coverage so the contract was terminated.
However all is not lost as the Australian Government still has committed $4.7 billion to building a national fibre to the node network, which also includes fibre to the premise for every school.
