Question

Will the Intel Xeon X5660 work on a regular motherboard?

May 26, 2017 9:14PM PDT

So for my birthday my uncle is giving me his old computer, which I plan on upgrading. I have looked for many CPUs, mostly i7s, but then I noticed cheap Intel Xeons. I don't know whether they require a special type of server motherboard or what. My current specs are as follow:

Cpu: Intel Core i3-550

Graphics card: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6570

I do not know any other important specs (motherboard etc), for all he told me when I asked were the CPU, graphics, ram, hard drive, and disk drive. I do know that the motherboard is LGA 1156, for that's the socket of the i3 550.

Here is a link to the CPU I'm looking at:

I am also looking at this i7:

We need to know the make and model of the mobo.
Then members can find what cpu's it will support.
