Will region free software work in QuickPlay mode ?

Feb 3, 2005 1:33PM PST

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a laptop in the HP dv100 or 1100 series. Those laptops have the nice feature of QuickPlay. I have DVD from both US and Europe which I would like to play on this. This means that I have DVDs from differnt regions and different color coding (NTSC and PAL).
Can I play those on the laptop using the QuickPlay ?
If not is there a way to make it work ?
I know that there are software out there like AnyDvd, dvd43free,etc but if I install those will that actually help me as when using the QuickPlay mode I don't start the machine in the sense booting it up.
This means that I have to boot up the laptop in order to watch the dvd and the QuickPlay feature becomes useless in this case.

Anyone that has experience of this or know the answer ?

I've only found DVDSHRINK to cure this issue. You can test the rest, but this is what I use and know.

I didn't get you.
My understanding of DVDshrink is that it copies the information on the DVD to the harddrive in order to make it possible to burn it to another DVD with another program.

Can you explain or if anyone else can or have good ideas ?

You didn't do your homework.

But it is a solution worth noting.

Good luck,
