Couldn't install MS Office 2000 from its disk on new laptop
May 4, 2007 12:58PM PDT

My old desktop (circa 2000) is dying, and I recently bought a new
Toshiba laptop with Vista (SIGH). I have a huge amount of my brain downloaded into Outlook 2000 (calendar, contacts, tasks with categories), and want to port it over. I haven't been able to find any info on whether Outlook 2007 will import these files, so I tried installing Office 2007 from its CD on the laptop, and it hung partway (actually, the drive kept making noises so I guess it got into a race condition or infinite loop of some type!).

Anyone have a solution? Either installing Office 2000 on Vista, or importing outlook.pst into Office 2007.

"adTHANKSvance",

Andrea

Remnants of a newer Office in it's demo as supplied by most makers. If you trip over those discussions it's usually sufficient to uninstall any newer office then for Vista turn off UAC.
