will my lens be compatible with a digital body?

by chloedallas / January 1, 2010 1:25 PM PST

i am an amateurish photographer and i have a nikon n80 with a nikon af 24-85mm 1:2.8-4 D lens (dont judge)(not the one that came with the n80 originally)

im looking to buy a digital SLR body.
how can i tell if my lens will be compatible? do i have to stick to nikon? should i stick to nikon? theres no need to suggest specific lenses (unless you feel so inclined - in which case im looking for something basic with at least 10-12 megapixels)

really, im just wondering how in general i can tell if a lens will be compatible with a digital body (some models online have a tab that says "compatible lenses" but i want to know for all the other cameras out there without a convenient tab)

thanks in advance for any advice!

yes and no

It'll work on all the current Nikon cameras, but it won't auto focus on the entry level models. It seems to be a decent lens, but it's focal length, on a crop sensor camera, makes it not a good one lens option because of the lack of wide angle.

The D3000 and D5000. Also, the older D60 and D40 won't AF with the lens.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
